42 Olympic Champions Lead Chinese Mainland’s Delegation to Paris Olympics

The Chinese mainland is set to make a strong impression at the upcoming Paris Olympic Games, sending a total of 405 athletes as part of a 716-member delegation officially announced in Beijing on Saturday. Among the team, 42 are seasoned Olympic champions who will spearhead the mainland's competitive efforts across various sports.

The delegation comprises 136 male and 269 female athletes, competing in 30 different sports. Scheduled to officially open on July 26, the Paris Olympics will showcase these talented individuals on a global stage. Zhou Jinqiang, deputy director of the State General Administration of Sport, highlighted that the average age of the competitors is 25 years, with 223 athletes making their Olympic debut in Paris.

Standing out in the youthful squad is 11-year-old women's skateboarding prodigy Zheng Haohao, the youngest member of the delegation. On the other end of the spectrum, 37-year-old race walker Liu Hong brings experience, marking her fifth Olympic appearance. Her participation underscores the blend of youthful energy and seasoned expertise within the team.

The Paris Olympics will also see over 10,000 athletes from more than 200 countries and regions participating from July 26 to August 11, making it a truly global event that celebrates athleticism and international unity.
