Britain's King Charles III arrived in Australia on Friday, marking his most significant foreign journey since his cancer diagnosis eight months ago.
Landing in a rain-soaked Sydney, the 75-year-old monarch and his wife, Queen Camilla, were warmly welcomed by local dignitaries and children bearing posies.
The royal couple met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his partner, Jodie Haydon, at Admiralty House, a historic residence overlooking Sydney Harbor and the Opera House, where they will be staying during their visit.
King Charles is undertaking his inaugural visit to an overseas realm as sovereign, spending nine days exploring Australia and Samoa. The itinerary includes a public barbecue, visits to renowned landmarks, and discussions on pressing climate challenges.
Earlier, the royal couple shared on social media platform X, \"We are really looking forward to returning to this beautiful country to celebrate the extraordinarily rich cultures and communities that make it so special.\"
