In a swift response to the recent earthquake, China's Western Theater Command has mobilized its disaster relief system to aid those affected in the Xizang Autonomous Region.
On January 7, a powerful magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in Xigaze City, southwest of Xizang. The tremors resulted in building collapses and sadly claimed several lives.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Western Theater Command established a forward command post to coordinate relief operations. At 2:05 p.m., personnel boarded a Y-20 aircraft, China's largest transport aircraft, to oversee and facilitate ongoing relief efforts in the affected area.
