Beijing’s 12345 Hotline: A Lifeline for Foreign Residents

Beijing is increasingly becoming a multicultural hub, and one of the key resources supporting its diverse population is the 12345 hotline. Highlighted by a Turkish expat, this hotline has proven to be influential among foreigners navigating urban life in the city.

At the recent Beijing Forum on Swift Response to Public Complaints, 40 representative cases of urban governance were showcased, featuring innovative practices from both Chinese and international cities. These cases demonstrate how different cultural contexts can shape effective governance approaches.

CGTN's Chen Lanyou sat down with Jessica Durdu, a PhD candidate from China Foreign Affairs University, to delve into what makes Beijing a multicultural city. Their discussion provided a foreign perspective on the city's urban governance, emphasizing the importance of responsive services like the 12345 hotline in fostering an inclusive environment for all residents.
