The Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area has successfully established a \"one-hour living circle,\" a milestone achieved through the implementation of multiple strategic policies. This new development signifies enhanced connectivity and seamless movement within the region.
According to Liu Jieyi, spokesperson for the second session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the number of vehicles from Hong Kong and Macao crossing the Chinese mainland via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has seen a substantial increase. This surge underscores the effectiveness of recent infrastructure and policy initiatives.
The Greater Bay Area is now recognized as a strategic fulcrum of China's new development pattern, serving as a demonstration zone for high-quality growth and a leader in modernization efforts. With a total economic output exceeding 13 trillion yuan (approximately $1.8 trillion) and leading the world in patent capacity among the four major bay areas, it stands as one of the most promising global growth poles.
The CPPCC has consistently prioritized the economic and social development of Hong Kong and Macao, actively discussing and formulating policies to further integrate the Greater Bay Area. In 2023, the committee recommended accelerating market integration, optimizing the cross-border compliance system for financial data, and promoting the digitization of industries.
Additionally, committee members from Hong Kong and Macao have been actively visiting various regions in Guangdong Province to explore cooperation and development opportunities, fostering stronger regional ties and collaborative growth.
