Apple Unveils AI-Powered iPad Mini Featuring A17 Pro Chip

Apple has launched the latest generation of the iPad mini, integrating cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) features to enhance user experience. The new model is equipped with Apple's powerful A17 Pro chip, already featured in the iPhone 15 Pro series.

With a six-core CPU, the A17 Pro delivers a 30% performance boost over the previous iPad mini models, enabling smoother operation of Apple Intelligence, the company’s proprietary AI software. This upgrade underscores Apple's commitment to embedding AI capabilities across its device lineup.

The initial batch of AI features will be available through the iPadOS 18.1 software update, rolling out this month for the U.S. English version. These features are compatible with iPads running the A17 Pro or M1 chips and newer, with additional functionalities like image-generation tools, Genmoji, and ChatGPT-powered capabilities set to launch in the coming months.

In September, Apple introduced its iPhone 16 lineup, also enhanced with AI functionalities. While the AI features are still in testing, early sales data from a record high third quarter suggest strong performance, with research firm Canalys predicting continued sales momentum into the first half of 2025.

The new iPad mini starts at $499 and is available for pre-order beginning Tuesday. Customers can expect deliveries to commence next week, both online and at Apple store locations.
