China's STAR.VISION, an AI satellite company, has announced a new collaboration with Oman's Lens LLC to develop an advanced digital twin city platform. This innovative project aims to revolutionize earth observation by integrating artificial intelligence with satellite technology.
The partnership was unveiled during the 2024 COMEX Global Technology Show, a prominent four-day tech exhibition. The platform will leverage AI and satellite imagery to create detailed 3D models for building detection, green cover analysis, and road mapping, among other applications.
Aligned with the Belt and Road Initiative and Oman's Vision 2040 for smart city solutions, this initiative is set to transform urban planning, infrastructure management, and emergency preparedness in Oman. Noor Fan, co-founder of STAR.VISION, highlighted the project's potential impact to Xinhua.
This collaboration builds on previous efforts, including the launch of \"WonderJourney-1A\", Oman's first AI-enabled satellite, in partnership with Oman’s Sultan Qaboos University in August 2023.
