Michek and Zhu-Chen Dominate SS5 of the 2025 Taklimakan Rally

The fifth stage (SS5) of the 2025 Taklimakan Rally tested riders and drivers over 287 km of scorching dunes and sudden drop-offs. Competitors faced extreme temperatures, rocky terrain, and violent jolts as the desert landscape pushed both endurance and skill to the limit.

In the motorcycle division, Martin Michek of the Chongqing Hoto Factory Team overcame earlier injuries to finish the grueling course in a commanding 3 hours, 38 minutes, and 25 seconds. Leveraging expert navigation and precise throttle control, the Czech rider seized a clear lead and sent a message to his rivals.

On four wheels, the Chinese mainland duo Zhu Guanghai and navigator Chen Qingkai from the Duonai Shock Absorber Team set the fastest time among cars, clocking in at 3 hours, 22 minutes, and 40 seconds. Their seamless teamwork and expertly tuned vehicle dominated the dunes, securing their status as top contenders.

Looking ahead, SS6 on Tuesday covers 288 km across wetlands, Gobi expanses, and more desert terrain. With varied landscapes and new challenges, competitors must adapt vehicle setups and strategies to stay in the hunt for the 2025 Taklimakan Rally crown.
