Thrilling Short Track Speed Skating to Shine at 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin

Short track speed skating is always one of the most popular events in various Winter Games. The track measures 111.12 meters, and the races are filled with uncertainty. It requires both skill and strategy to cross the finish line first while avoiding falls. However, this unpredictability is what makes the event so thrilling.

Short track speed skating was declared an official sport in 1967 by the International Skating Union, but international competitions were not held until 1976. It appeared as a demonstration sport at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics and was officially introduced as part of the Olympic program at the 1992 Albertville Games.

Short track speed skating will be one of the 11 disciplines featured at the upcoming 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin City, northeast China, with both individual events and relays. Audiences can look forward to some exciting races.
