Chinese badminton players made a strong showing at the Hong Kong Open, securing two of the five finals on Sunday in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
In the women's singles final, No. 3 seed Han Yue of China triumphed over Indonesia's Putri Kusuma Wardani with scores of 21-18 and 21-7, earning the gold medal. This marks the first Chinese victory in the event since Chen Yufei's win in 2019.
\"It was not easy at all,\" Han shared with reporters. \"She created many challenges for me. Fortunately, I was well-prepared for the final.\"
The mixed doubles final saw two Chinese pairs clash, with second-seeded Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin defeating top seeds Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping by scores of 21-19, 21-19. Wei Yaxin previously won the event last year alongside Guo Xinwa.
