Historic Largest Olympic Refugee Team Set to Shine in Paris 2024

In a monumental step forward, the International Olympic Committee has selected the largest Refugee Olympic Team to compete in the Paris 2024 Games. This marks the third iteration of the Refugee Team initiative, now symbolizing hope and resilience for over 100 million displaced individuals worldwide.

The Paris team, which has grown from an initial pool of 74 athletes, will feature 36 competitors from 11 different countries. These athletes are hosted by 15 National Olympic Committees and will represent 12 diverse sports during the games, which kick off on July 26th in the French capital.

Among the standout athletes is Cindy Ngamba, the first member of the Refugee Team to be selected for boxing. Her participation highlights the growing diversity and talent within the team. Another inspiring figure is Saeid Fazloula, who watched the announcement via video link with his son on his lap. He expressed his joy, stating, \"It's amazing to hear I am officially part of the Olympic refugee team.\"

Leading the team is Masomah Ali Zada, a former refugee athlete from the Tokyo 2020 Games.
