Felix Auger-Aliassime has secured his spot in the Madrid Open final following the retirement of Czech Republic's Jiri Lehecka in the semi-finals at a score of 3-3.
This marks the third walkover for Auger-Aliassime in Madrid. Previously, he benefited from Jakub Mensik's retirement in the third round and Jannik Sinner’s withdrawal from their quarter-final match. Auger-Aliassime, who reached his peak ranking of No. 6 in late 2022 and is currently ranked No. 35, is set to compete against Andrey Rublev in the final.
Despite holding a 1-4 head-to-head record against Rublev, Auger-Aliassime is eager to make history by contesting his first Masters 1000 final. Tennis enthusiasts around the world are tuning in to see if the Canadian can overcome the seasoned Rublev and claim the prestigious title.
