Beijing Secures Five-Year Spot to Host Prestigious WTT Grand Smash Starting This Autumn

Get ready, table tennis fans! Beijing is all set to host the World Table Tennis (WTT) China Smash for the next five years, kicking off this autumn. Announced on Tuesday, the event will run from September 26 to October 6 at the iconic Shougang Park in Shijingshan District.

The WTT China Smash joins the ranks of the Singapore Smash and Saudi Arabia Smash, offering athletes the chance to earn up to 2,000 points across five exciting events, including men's and women's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. This marks a significant addition to Beijing's already impressive sports portfolio.

“We're honored to be back in this Olympic city, which has not seen a major international table tennis event of this scale since the 26th World Table Tennis Championships in 1961,” said WTT director Steve Dainton. He emphasized the importance of China as the largest market and Beijing as the capital, highlighting the city's appeal and the sport's growth.

Liu Guoliang, president of the Chinese Table Tennis Association and chairman of the WTT board, added, “Beijing, the capital of China, is a globally renowned sports city. Hosting the WTT Grand Smash once again showcases our capability to host major sporting events and honor our rich history while forging new milestones.”

This event not only celebrates the legacy of table tennis in Beijing but also sets the stage for the sport's future, attracting top talent and enthusiastic fans from around the world.
