At the 27th China-ASEAN Summit, Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the commitment to elevating the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights.
Premier Li highlighted the significant progress made over the past year in building a China-ASEAN community with a shared future, delivering tangible benefits to over 1.4 billion Chinese and 600 million ASEAN nationals. He pointed out that in the current global economic landscape, characterized by sluggish recovery and insufficient aggregate demand, market resources have become the most valuable asset.
China and ASEAN, two major markets, are continuously upgrading and expanding their economies. Strengthening market connectivity is poised to be a key area of cooperation, driving sustainable growth for both regions.
A landmark achievement was the substantial conclusion of the Version 3.0 China-ASEAN Free Trade Area negotiations. This agreement lays the institutional foundation for creating a hyper-scale market, positioning China and ASEAN as leaders in East Asian economic integration.
Premier Li assured that China is ready to collaborate with ASEAN to develop and share a common market, fostering stronger and more sustainable growth. This partnership aims to support not only regional prosperity but also contribute to global economic stability.
Beyond economic ties, Li stressed the importance of building a multidimensional connectivity network, enhancing infrastructure cooperation, and accelerating the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement. Additionally, he called for expanding collaboration in emerging industries like the digital economy and green development, driving industrial transformation.
Promoting cultural and people-to-people exchanges remains a priority, with initiatives aimed at deepening mutual understanding and cooperation through the Global Civilization Initiative.
Chinese President Xi Jinping’s principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness guide the ongoing efforts to build a better Asian community, reinforcing the far-reaching significance of China-ASEAN relations for Asia and the world.
