Sam Hou Fai Confirmed as Sole Candidate for Macao Chief Executive Election

The Macao Special Administrative Region's Electoral Affairs Commission has officially accepted Sam Hou Fai as the sole candidate for the upcoming Chief Executive election. Announced on Wednesday, this decision follows the completion of an eligibility review by the commission.

On Tuesday, the committee completed its assessment of Sam Hou Fai's application to run for Chief Executive. The Committee for Safeguarding National Security of the Macao Special Administrative Region reviewed his candidacy and affirmed his sincere support for the Macao SAR Basic Law, as well as his loyalty to the People's Republic of China and its Macao SAR.

Sam's nomination was backed by 386 members of the Chief Executive Election Committee, showcasing a strong endorsement within the region's political framework.

According to the Chief Executive Election Law of Macao SAR, there is a one-day period for appeals against the acceptance of candidates and election committee members. With no objections filed, the electoral commission has confirmed the final list of accepted candidates.

The Chief Executive election is scheduled to take place on October 13, where Macao residents will vote to elect their next leader.
