Xi Jinping Announces Enhanced China-Namibia Partnership at FOCAC Summit

At the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping affirmed China's dedication to fostering mutual development and prosperity with Namibia. This initiative aims to build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future.

During a meeting with Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba, Xi highlighted the significant contributions of President Mbumba to the success of the FOCAC summit. He emphasized the strong commitment of both China and Africa to advancing modernization collaboratively.

Xi underscored the importance of aligning development strategies and exploring new areas of collaboration, including agriculture, clean energy, infrastructure, energy and minerals, and technology. He encouraged Chinese enterprises to invest in Namibia and expressed hope that Namibia would continue to facilitate such investments. Additionally, China expressed support for Namibia's role as a co-facilitator for the United Nations' Summit of the Future, aiming to enhance multilateral strategic cooperation and strengthen the Global South.

President Mbumba expressed his honor in attending the summit and highlighted that the outcome documents adopted would strengthen the brotherly relationship between Africa and China. He affirmed Namibia's commitment to implementing the summit's outcomes, enhancing communication with China, and boosting cooperation in key sectors.

During the summit, China and Namibia signed several bilateral agreements, including those related to the export of sheep and goat meat to China and other areas of development cooperation. These agreements mark a significant step towards deeper collaboration and shared growth between the two nations.
