Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to embark on key state visits to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in the coming days, aiming to deepen bilateral relations and explore new areas of cooperation. According to Mao Ning, spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry, Xi will engage with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to discuss strategic partnerships and collaborative initiatives.
Kazakhstan, a long-time friend and permanent comprehensive strategic partner of China, has seen its relations with China flourish over the past 32 years. Mao highlighted the robust development in sectors such as economy, trade, investment, connectivity, energy, and culture, positioning China-Kazakhstan relations as a model of neighborly and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Last year’s meetings between Xi and Tokayev in Xi'an and Beijing laid the groundwork for a golden era of rapid development in China-Kazakhstan ties. This upcoming visit will mark Xi’s fifth trip to Kazakhstan, promising to further enhance the partnership and advance high-quality cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative, ultimately benefiting the people of both nations.
Xi's visit to Tajikistan, his first in five years, underscores the importance of China-Tajikistan relations. Under the leadership of Xi and Rahmon, the two countries have strengthened political mutual trust and achieved significant progress in Belt and Road projects, cultural exchanges, and cooperation on international and regional matters. In May last year, both leaders announced the establishment of a China-Tajikistan community with a shared future, emphasizing long-term friendship and mutual support.
The visits are expected to solidify political trust, deepen Belt and Road cooperation, and foster greater mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Tajikistan. Mao Ning expressed optimism that these efforts will inject new momentum into the China-Tajikistan relationship, elevating the comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights.
