The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government has taken decisive action by revoking the passports of six individuals accused of anti-China activities. This move is aimed at safeguarding national security and upholding the rule of law within Hong Kong.
Earlier this week, the Security Bureau of the HKSAR announced the cancellation of passports belonging to Law Kwun-chung and five other absconders currently residing in the UK. These individuals face charges including splitting the state and colluding with foreign entities, actions that the HKSAR authorities argue seriously jeopardize national security.
In a statement, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized that the passport revocations are in accordance with the National Security Ordinance and are both justified and lawful. Lin asserted that these measures are essential for defending national security and maintaining the stability of the \"One Country, Two Systems\" framework.
\"Hong Kong affairs are purely China's internal affairs and brook no interference from any external forces,\" Lin Jian stated, reiterating China's stance on maintaining sovereignty and security.
