Chinese FM Wang Yi Champions Unity and Cooperation to Strengthen SCO

In a significant move towards regional solidarity, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of unity, cooperation, and inclusiveness at the recent Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Ministers meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Wang, a prominent member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, highlighted the SCO's evolution over the past 23 years. He praised the organization as a vital security barrier, a bridge for cooperation, a bond of friendship, and a constructive force within the region.

Addressing challenges from countries that pursue hegemony and engage in power politics, Wang critiqued their efforts to undermine the strategic independence of the Global South and hinder the revitalization of emerging markets and developing nations. He urged SCO member states to uphold the \"Shanghai Spirit\"โ€”a foundation of mutual respect, equality, and cooperative development.

Wang called for collective action to safeguard common interests, respond effectively to various challenges, and maintain fairness and justice within the international arena. To achieve these goals, he proposed four key initiatives aimed at reinforcing the SCO's role in fostering a stable and prosperous region.

His remarks underscored the importance of collaborative efforts among SCO members to navigate the complexities of global politics and ensure sustainable growth for all member states.
