In a significant display of growing international cooperation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Beninese Foreign Minister Shegun Adjadi Bakari hailed the robust bilateral ties during Bakari's official visit to Beijing on Thursday.
The visit follows the successful trip by Beninese President Patrice Talon to China in September, where both nations' leaders announced the formation of a strategic partnership, signaling a new era in China-Benin relations. Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the high level of mutual political trust and the solid progress made across various fields of cooperation.
\"China attaches great importance to its relations with Benin and is committed to leading the development of bilateral relations based on the consensus reached by our leaders,\" Wang stated. He further assured that China will continue to support Benin's development path suited to its national conditions, positioning China as a sincere friend and reliable partner in Benin's modernization efforts.
The Foreign Ministers discussed expanding pragmatic cooperation in trade, investment, energy, culture, and human resources, welcoming Benin's active participation in global development initiatives. Bakari echoed these sentiments, expressing Benin's readiness to implement the consensus, promote common values, and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation to elevate Benin-China relations.
Additionally, Benin expressed gratitude towards China for its role in promoting peace in the Gaza Strip, particularly regarding the UN Security Council's ceasefire resolution. Bakari highlighted Benin's willingness to collaborate with China in the United Nations Human Rights Council to safeguard developing countries' interests and promote healthy international human rights development.
