China and Peru share a rich history marked by splendid ancient civilizations and a long-standing relationship that dates back to the 17th century. The integration of Chinese immigrants into Peruvian society has been continuous, fostering a deep cultural connection between the two nations.
In November 2016, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping visited the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru. During this visit, CGTN returned to the museum to meet with Rafael Varón Gabai, director of the museum, alongside Rubén Tang, former director of the Confucius Institute at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), and Rodrigo Campos, director of the Tusanaje project.
The discussions highlighted the significant role of cultural exchanges in promoting the development of China-Peru and broader China-Latin America relations. These initiatives underscore the importance of fostering mutual understanding and collaboration through shared cultural heritage and academic pursuits.
