Singapore and China Strengthen Ties at 19th JCBC Summit in Tianjin

The 19th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) is set to take place on December 7 in Tianjin, China, marking a significant milestone in Singapore-China relations. Co-chaired by Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Lawrence Wong, and Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, the JCBC serves as the highest bilateral platform to steer the strategic direction of cooperation between the two nations.

Over the decades, Singapore and China have cultivated a robust and multifaceted partnership, navigating through various phases of development together. Key collaborations include the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park, the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, and the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity. Additionally, the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City and eight provincial business councils underscore the depth of this alliance.

Earlier this year, in March, Singapore and China elevated their relationship to an \"All-Round High-Quality Future-Oriented Partnership.\" This advancement was spearheaded by Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Chinese President Xi Jinping, reflecting a mutual commitment to future growth and cooperation.

The upcoming JCBC summit in Tianjin will review and set the strategic agenda for the ongoing collaboration, ensuring that Singapore and China continue to thrive together in an ever-evolving global landscape.
