The Shenzhou-18 crew aboard China's Tiangong space station recently provided stunning visual insights of two of China's most revered waterways: the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, often hailed as the nation's \"mother rivers.\"
Commander Ye Guangfu captured the expansive beauty of the Yangtze River, the longest river in China and the world's third longest. Flowing through key cities like Chongqing, Wuhan, Nanjing, and Shanghai, the Yangtze plays a crucial role in China’s economic and cultural landscape.
Taikonaut Li Cong then turned their gaze to the Yellow River, China's second longest river. Originating from the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau and traversing the Loess Plateau, the Yellow River is vital for its contributions to ecological restoration, desertification control, and water supply management through various water conservancy projects.
The Shenzhou-18 mission, which has been in orbit for approximately six months, is set to conclude with the crew's return to Earth in late October. Their remarkable observations from space highlight the enduring significance of these rivers in sustaining China's environment and communities.
