The Israel Meteorological Service (IMS) announced on Monday that this summer has been the hottest on record since 1950. Between June and August, the country experienced an average national daily temperature of 29 degrees Celsius, surpassing the previous record by about one degree set 12 years ago.
The Sea of Galilee region in northeastern Israel witnessed the highest temperature of the summer, soaring to 46.7 degrees Celsius. IMS attributes this extreme heat to unprecedented sea temperatures, which reached up to 32 degrees Celsius on certain days.
The soaring temperatures have had a significant impact on daily life, with public beaches in cities like Tel Aviv offering relief to residents seeking to cool off from the intense heatwaves.
