Over 28,000 Evacuated in Liaoning Province as Torrential Rains Cause Severe Flooding

Torrential rains have struck the Chinese mainland's Liaoning Province, prompting the evacuation of more than 28,000 residents. Over the past 24 hours, severe downpours have caused water levels in six rivers to exceed their warning thresholds, raising concerns about widespread flooding.

The rainstorm persisted from 7 a.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday, unleashing heavy rainfall across multiple regions. The most intense rainfall was recorded in Xinglongtai District of Panjin city, where the largest hourly rainfall reached 81.9 millimeters. Meanwhile, the province's average precipitation stood at 25.4 millimeters during the 24-hour period.

Local authorities have been working diligently to ensure the safety of residents, setting up evacuation centers and coordinating with emergency services to manage the situation. The extreme weather conditions highlight the growing challenges posed by climate change and the importance of effective disaster preparedness.

As Liaoning Province grapples with the aftermath of these intense rains, residents are urged to stay informed and follow safety recommendations to mitigate the impact of the floods.
