The death toll from recent rainstorms and flash floods in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province has risen to 40, with 347 people injured, according to the country's Ministry of Public Health.
Health workers have been dispatched to the affected areas to treat the injured, spokesperson Sharafat Zaman Amarkhil stated on Tuesday. Officials have warned that the number of casualties is expected to increase as rescue operations continue.
