Devastating Floods in Kenya Claim Over 90 Lives

Kenya is grappling with severe flooding that has resulted in the tragic loss of more than 90 lives. The heavy rains have wreaked havoc across the East African nation, leading to widespread property destruction and displacing thousands of residents.

According to Kenyan authorities, the death toll continues to rise as many bodies remain missing after being swept away by the relentless waters. On Saturday night alone, police recovered 11 new bodies from various locations, including a harrowing incident in Sultan Hamud, Makueni County, where a truck was carried away by the floods, claiming the lives of six women and three men.

Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome has announced the deployment of additional personnel to assist motorists and ensure safety on the roads. Humanitarian organizations report that flash floods have not only caused fatalities but also left numerous individuals injured after they were forcefully carried away by the swift currents.

Communities across several counties have seen homes, schools, and businesses destroyed as rainfall surpassed average levels. In response to the escalating crisis, Kenyan officials and humanitarian groups are urging residents to avoid flooded areas, seek higher ground, and refrain from driving during heavy rains to mitigate further tragedies.
