Tragic M6.8 Earthquake Strikes Xizang: Death Toll Reaches 95

A devastating magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in the city of Xigaze, located in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday. The seismic event has resulted in a death toll of 95, with 130 individuals injured as of 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Official data indicates that approximately 6,900 people reside within a 20-km radius of the earthquake's epicenter. Preliminary assessments reveal that over 1,000 houses have sustained varying degrees of damage. Rescue teams are working tirelessly in the freezing temperatures to comb through rubble in search of survivors.
