A powerful magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Morocco on Friday, causing widespread devastation and loss of life. The earthquake, with a depth of 18.5 kilometers, had its epicenter near the town of Ighil in Al Haouz Province, approximately 70 kilometers southwest of Marrakesh.
The country's Interior Ministry reported that more than 2,000 people have lost their lives, with thousands more injured and in serious condition. In response to the tragedy, Morocco has declared a three-day period of national mourning.
Search and rescue efforts are ongoing as emergency services work tirelessly to locate survivors and provide assistance to those affected by the disaster.
