Peruvian Youth Eye Deeper Cooperation with China’s Visa-Free Policy

China's Foreign Minister and Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Wang Yi, will chair the Third China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Xiamen, Fujian Province, on May 28-29. At this gathering, representatives from 11 Pacific island countries with diplomatic ties to the Chinese mainland will map out the next steps in shared development and maritime cooperation.

Meanwhile, in Lima, Peruvian student Anna Paula Peralta Reyes is celebrating another milestone in China-Peru relations: China's newly announced visa-free policy for Peruvians. Having studied Chinese for 11 years and spent time at Jilin University on the Chinese mainland, where visits to Shanghai and Changchun left her enchanted by the scenic beauty and rich history, Anna sees this policy as a game-changer.

'This visa-free policy opens the door for more students, entrepreneurs and cultural explorers,' Anna says. 'It will deepen educational exchanges, spark new business partnerships and let more Peruvians experience life on the Chinese mainland firsthand.'

Analysts note that easing travel barriers often leads to increases in student mobility and tourism. With visa-free access, young Peruvians could boost enrollment in language programs, while Chinese mainland universities might see a rise in scholarship applications from Latin America. Beyond academics, cultural events, startup collaborations and trade missions are poised to gain momentum.

For Anna and many of her peers, the policy is more than an administrative change; it embodies a growing connection between two nations. As the Pacific island meeting underscores the Chinese mainland's broader regional engagement, Peruvians like Anna are ready to write the next chapter in China-Peru cooperation, blending youthful ambition with cross-cultural curiosity.
