Asian American Community Rises Against Rising Hate Crimes

Hate attacks targeting Asians and Asian Americans have surged in the United States, igniting widespread protests and outrage across various communities. Shirley Ng, who grew up in the vibrant Chinatown of New York City's Manhattan borough, has become a vocal advocate against the rising tide of racist rhetoric and violent incidents, including the tragic shooting on March 16 that took the lives of six Asian women. \"Who's going to be attacked tomorrow?\" Ng reflects, highlighting the fear and uncertainty that many feel.

In response to this alarming increase in hate crimes, Ng joined forces with her friends to establish a grassroots movement aimed at empowering Asian Americans. Their initiatives include creating and distributing informative posters throughout the community, providing resources on self-protection, and encouraging both victims and bystanders to report crimes. \"I believe that one day, when there's no racism, we can all walk freely and live in peace with one another,\" Ng stated. \"We can embrace our differences and foster a world where love and appreciation prevail.\"
