Gurdov Guvanch, a student from Turkmenistan known to friends as Wangzi (‘Prince’ in Chinese), is turning cultural exchange into an art form. During his time in China, Wangzi has formed deep connections with local peers, embodying the spirit of ‘friendships without borders’ through shared experiences and mutual support.
Now, he and fellow Turkmen students are preparing a vibrant showcase of their heritage for an upcoming cultural festival, where they’ll perform traditional Turkmen dances for Chinese audiences. ‘It’s about sharing our story while learning theirs,’ Wangzi says, highlighting the two-way exchange shaping his journey.
The event underscores how global youth are redefining diplomacy through grassroots connections — one dance step, meal, or conversation at a time.
