CGTN and Silk Way TV Launch Joint Programs Ahead of 2024 SCO Summit

In anticipation of the 2024 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Astana, CGTN and Kazakhstan's Silk Way TV have announced the launch of several joint programs. Scheduled from July 3 to July 4, the summit will be a pivotal event for regional cooperation and dialogue.

The collaborative initiative includes a teleconference linking studios in Beijing and Astana, where anchors from both countries will engage in discussions on various SCO-related themes. The programs will feature contributions from scholars and experts, offering in-depth insights into the SCO's development and future agenda.

Senior journalists from CGTN and Silk Way TV will present two special segments highlighting the achievements of the SCO and the bilateral relations between China and Kazakhstan. These segments will explore topics such as government-to-government connections, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges.

Additionally, a roundtable discussion is set to take place at Silk Way's headquarters in Astana, fostering collaborative dialogue among participants.

During a visit to Silk Way's headquarters, Xu Zhaoqun, deputy director of CGTN's news gathering department, emphasized the alignment of missions and commitments between CGTN and Silk Way TV. Xu expressed enthusiasm for expanding collaboration in breaking news coverage, program production, and reporting on significant regional events.

Ainur Imangali, editor-in-chief of Silk Way TV, underscored the critical role of media in fostering mutual understanding among cultures. She highlighted the expectation for enhanced collaboration between national broadcasters during the SCO Summit.

The joint programs are scheduled to air by the end of June on both CGTN and Silk Way's TV channels, as well as their digital media platforms. Silk Way, the first national satellite TV channel of the Republic of Kazakhstan, broadcasts in Kazakh, Russian, English, Turkish, Kyrgyz, and Uzbek across 118 countries worldwide.
