Chinese Dancers Rock Shanghai: B-Girl Royal & B-Boy Jason Take Asian Breaking Youth Titles

The Luwan Gymnasium in Shanghai set the stage for an electrifying showdown on Saturday as China’s top youth breakers claimed two titles at the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) Asian Breaking Championship Youth.

In the girls’ final, 16-year-old Guo Pu, better known as B-Girl Royal, wowed judges with dynamic moves and razor-sharp musicality to beat Japan’s Hiyo Yamada (B-Girl Hiyo) 3-0. Japan’s Cocoa Meguro (B-Girl Cocoa) took bronze after a fierce battle.

"My musicality made the difference," said Guo, reflecting on her winning routine.

On the boys’ side, 15-year-old Li Houhua, aka B-Boy Jason, powered through with consecutive air flares and complex freezes to secure a 3-0 victory over Japan’s Shunta Nakamura (B-Boy Lil Kong). Li’s teammate Tong Jierong (B-Boy Jierong) grabbed bronze, rounding out an all-China podium.

"I'm thrilled with this result," Li said. "My opponents were outstanding and deserve high respect."

Out of 169 competitors, 122 B-Boys and 47 B-Girls took the floor at the Luwan Gymnasium, highlighting breaking’s rapid growth in Asia. Rising stars like Royal are pushing boundaries and inspiring a new wave of female breakers.

The adult finals are set for Sunday, promising another round of high-energy performances.
