From May 18 to 23, Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong will tour Europe to bridge global health policy and bilateral cooperation. His journey starts in Geneva with the 78th World Health Assembly, where he is slated to join discussions on international health strategy.
According to a foreign ministry spokesperson, Liu — also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee — accepted invitations from World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and the governments of Switzerland and Belarus. After his Geneva engagements, Liu will travel to Belarus to chair the sixth meeting of the Chinese-Belarusian Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation.
This two-pronged itinerary underscores how multilateral forums and bilateral talks intertwine. For young entrepreneurs, policy buffs, and global citizens, Liu’s trip offers a front-row seat to see how health diplomacy connects with targeted intergovernmental exchange.
As the 78th WHA unfolds and the Chinese-Belarusian committee convenes in Belarus, the outcomes could spotlight new pathways for collaboration.
