Amid rising border tensions between India and Pakistan, China has stepped forward with a clear message: prioritize peace.
On Saturday, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry urged both countries "to act in the larger interest of peace and stability, exercise calm and restraint, return to the track of political settlement through peaceful means, and refrain from any action that could further escalate tensions."
"This is also what the international community hopes to see," the spokesperson added, highlighting China’s willingness to "play a constructive role" in easing the standoff.
Responding to media inquiries, the official stressed that China is "closely following the ongoing situation" and is "deeply concerned about the escalation."
China’s appeal for dialogue and restraint arrives at a pivotal moment, as tensions along the India–Pakistan border draw attention from capitals and communities worldwide.
Many hope that fresh calls for calm will pave the way back to peaceful political engagement and help maintain regional stability.
