China Leads the World in Industrial Robot Installations and Tech Innovations in 2024

China is making significant strides in high-tech manufacturing and technological innovation, solidifying its position as a global leader in industrial automation. According to Liu Jieyi, spokesperson for the third session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, China's high-tech manufacturing sector saw an impressive 8.9% growth in added value in 2024.

Remarkably, China accounted for over half of the world's industrial robot installations this year. This dominance is a testament to the country's deepening integration of technological and industrial innovation, which is accelerating the development of a modern industrial system and fostering new quality productive forces.

The nation is experiencing a wave of technological breakthroughs, with cutting-edge innovations emerging regularly. Traditional industries, such as steel and food processing, are undergoing intelligent and green transformations, with smart equipment rapidly gaining traction.

Among the world's 189 \"lighthouse factories\"—leading manufacturing sites showcasing digitalization and automation—79 are located in China. Nearly half of these are in traditional sectors, highlighting the country's ability to modernize and enhance efficiency in established industries.

Emerging industries are also thriving, shaping the future landscape of global manufacturing. In 2024, humanoid robots captivated audiences by performing folk dances at the Spring Festival Gala, drones illuminated the night sky with \"cyber fireworks,\" and China's open-source AI models have sparked global discussions, further establishing the nation's influence in the tech world.
