The Chinese animated blockbuster Ne Zha 2 has achieved a historic milestone, grossing over 10 billion yuan (around $1.37 billion US dollars) at the box office, including pre-sales. This accomplishment makes it the first Asian film to enter the global box office top 17.
The film premiered in Australia and New Zealand with advance screenings from February 10 to 12, officially hitting cinemas in these countries on February 13.
On February 12, Chinese moviegoers in Sydney, Australia, reported to Chinese media that the number of screenings had increased compared to earlier schedules, with as many as nine showings in a single day.
\"Ne Zha 2 is absolutely incredible! You won't want to miss a single minute!\" said Xiaohui, a moviegoer in Sydney, who shared her excitement with Chinese media Jimu News on February 11. She noted that the movie’s screening schedule was extended from the original three days to ten days.
\"The entire two-hour running time is packed with excitement. Whether it's one-on-one combat or large scale battle scenes, every moment is filled with detail. The action sequences and special effects are phenomenal!\" Xiaohui added. She observed that almost no one left the theater during the screening.
Beyond Australia and New Zealand, Ne Zha 2 also opened on February 13 in Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Malaysia, Egypt, South Africa, Pakistan, Japan, and South Korea.
