Vibrant Chinese New Year celebrations unfolded across Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, and the Taiwan region, showcasing profound cultural traditions and fostering a sense of unity and joy among communities.
Macao's streets came alive with leaping dragons and dancing lions on Wednesday, marking the first day of the Year of the Snake. A 238-meter-long golden dragon and 18 lively lion dancers took center stage, setting off from the iconic Ruins of St. Paul's and winding their way through landmarks such as Senado Square and A-Ma Temple.
The festivities were enriched by performers dressed as the God of Wealth, the Chinese gods Fu, Lu, and Shou—representing luck, fortune, and longevity—the zodiac snake, and Macao's tourism mascot Mak Mak, adding a vibrant and festive spirit to the celebrations.
