China Denies U.S. Claims of Cyberattack, Labels Accusations Groundless

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Tuesday strongly rejected the U.S. Department of the Treasury's allegations of a cyberattack. The spokesperson labeled the accusations as groundless and lacking in evidence.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury had reported on Monday that \"Chinese government-backed hackers\" breached their computer security defenses earlier this month, accessing some unclassified documents.

In response, spokesperson Mao Ning reiterated China's consistent stance against all forms of hacking activities. Ning emphasized that China opposes the dissemination of false information used for political purposes.

\"China has always opposed all forms of hacker attacks and condemns the dissemination of false information against China for political purposes,\" Mao Ning stated during the regular press briefing.
