Chinese Mission to EU Condemns EU Official’s Remarks on Hong Kong

The Chinese Mission to the European Union (EU) has formally objected to recent comments made by an EU official regarding Hong Kong. In a statement released on Friday, a spokesperson emphasized that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's police actions against individuals involved in destabilizing activities abroad are in strict accordance with the Law on Safeguarding National Security in Hong Kong and the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance.

\"These are justified actions that meet people's aspirations and comply with international law and customary practice,\" the spokesperson asserted. They further highlighted that Hong Kong remains a law-based society where adherence to laws is paramount and those who violate them are held accountable.

The spokesperson also underscored that Hong Kong's affairs are solely China's internal matters. In response to the EU official's remarks on social media, the Chinese Mission urged the European Union to respect China's sovereignty, uphold Hong Kong's rule of law, and refrain from supporting elements that seek to destabilize the region.

This statement comes amidst ongoing international discussions about the political and security landscape in Hong Kong, reflecting China's commitment to maintaining stability and addressing challenges through established legal frameworks.
