Chinese Mainland Condemns Taiwan DPP Over Cyberbullying Allegations

A spokesperson from the Chinese mainland has sharply criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities in Taiwan for allegedly collaborating with certain media outlets and online forces to initiate cyberbullying attacks. These attacks targeted members of a delegation of students and teachers from Chinese mainland universities who extended their congratulations to the \"Chinese Taipei team.\"

Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, emphasized during a media briefing that the world recognizes only one China, with Taiwan being an inalienable part of it. While complete reunification between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan has not yet been achieved, Zhu asserted that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China, affirming that the term \"Chinese Taipei team\" is appropriate.

According to Zhu, the foundation of cross-Straits relations is built on the people, driven by their aspirations. She highlighted that the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides have yielded significant benefits for compatriots on both sides of the Straits. Zhu stated, \"We are committed to wholeheartedly promoting initiatives that enhance kinship, well-being, and mutual understanding among compatriots, and we will do so effectively.\"

Furthermore, Zhu warned the DPP authorities that peace, development, exchange, and cooperation are the shared aspirations of people across the Straits and represent the mainstream public opinion in Taiwan. She concluded by stating that any attempts to obstruct or undermine cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation are destined to fail.
