China and Kyrgyzstan Forge Stronger Ties with New Infrastructure and Trade Initiatives

China and Kyrgyzstan are set to strengthen their bilateral relationship through expanded cooperation in trade, infrastructure, and regional partnerships.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kulubaev Zheenbek Moldokanovich, in Chengdu to discuss the rapid development of their nations' ties. Wang highlighted key projects such as the upcoming China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway and the phased operational opening of the Beshkent border port, which are expected to significantly boost collaboration.

\"We should continue to carry forward the fine tradition of mutual respect and support, deepen strategic trust, and expand our mutually beneficial cooperation to elevate the China-Kyrgyzstan comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights,\" Wang stated.

In efforts to solidify economic ties, China expressed its willingness to accelerate the signing of an intergovernmental services trade and investment agreement, aiming to establish a robust legal framework for ongoing cooperation. Additionally, improvements to infrastructure at key border ports and the increase of direct flights between the two countries were emphasized to facilitate the movement of people and goods.

Kulubaev praised the strong alignment of interests between China and Kyrgyzstan, noting the absence of political differences and the success of high-level exchanges this year, including meetings between heads of state. He expressed optimism about the future of their relationship and hopes to establish a high-level strategic dialogue mechanism to further enhance cooperation in trade, investment, customs, and ports.

Both nations also agreed to enhance their coordination within international frameworks such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the China-Central Asia mechanism. Kulubayev reiterated Kyrgyzstan's support for China's role as the rotating chair of the SCO and its commitment to promoting the \"Shanghai Spirit\" to advance regional cooperation.
