During the talks, Premier Li highlighted China's commitment to deepening political mutual trust and supporting Samoa's core interests. He outlined plans to enhance cooperation in key areas such as agriculture, fisheries, clean energy, and disaster prevention and mitigation. Li also expressed China's readiness to work with Samoa to implement agreed-upon strategies, aiming to promote common development and prosperity.
Both China and Samoa are part of the Global South, and Premier Li stressed the importance of strengthening communication and coordination in multilateral arenas. The leaders discussed jointly tackling climate change, promoting a multi-polar world, and ensuring that economic globalization benefits all parties involved. This collaboration aims to safeguard the common interests of developing countries.
Prime Minister Mata'afa affirmed Samoa's adherence to the one-China principle and its support for China's position. She expressed the country's willingness to enhance high-level exchanges with China, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and strengthen people-to-people and sub-national ties. Mata'afa also highlighted Samoa's anticipation of continued Chinese support for the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent and a joint effort to address global challenges such as climate change.
