Peru Champions ‘Peruvian Model’ for Global South Collaboration with China

Peru is forging a robust partnership with the Chinese mainland, positioning itself as a model for Global South cooperation. Recent economic and trade collaborations, coupled with vibrant cultural exchanges, are strengthening the bonds between the two nations.

During Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Peru, a significant survey titled \"Peru's Favorability towards China in 2024\" was launched by CGTN in collaboration with the New Era International Communication Research Institute and the Center for Advanced National Studies of Peru. The survey, which polled 1,111 Peruvian respondents, revealed overwhelming positive sentiments towards China.

Key findings include:

  • 89.6% of respondents hold a favorable view of China.
  • 97.7% recognize China as an important country.
  • 97.2% consider China to be a successful nation.
  • 91.5% find China attractive.
  • 91.2% respect China.

Additionally, there is a high eagerness among Peruvians to engage with China personally, with 94% expressing a desire to travel, visit, or study in China. This enthusiasm is even more pronounced among young adults aged 18 to 24, with 95.9% showing interest.

Peru stands out as one of the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic ties with New China, fostering a comprehensive strategic partnership built on sincerity and mutual trust. The survey highlights Peru's vision to develop a \"Peruvian model\" that enhances China-Latin America relations and promotes high-level cooperation among Global South countries.
