Shanghai is set to host the highly anticipated seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE) from November 5 to 10, marking the country's most significant import trade fair to date. This global economic and trade event has become a pivotal platform for international companies aiming to enter the expansive Chinese market.
Last year's CIIE was a monumental success, generating cumulative deals valued at an impressive $78.4 billion, reflecting a 6.7% increase from the previous year and setting a new record. This year, the expo is expected to surpass these achievements with 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions, occupying an exhibition space that spans over 360,000 square meters—equivalent to 50 standard soccer fields.
Chinese officials have highlighted that the number of participating countries and exhibitors this year has exceeded all previous records. Notably, 297 exhibitors hail from Fortune Global 500 companies, a historic high that underscores the expo's growing significance in the global trade landscape. Additionally, 186 enterprises and institutions are participating for the seventh consecutive year, demonstrating sustained interest and commitment.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the importance of the CIIE in embodying China’s dedication to openness and international cooperation. In his keynote speech at the opening ceremony, Premier Li reiterated that hosting the CIIE is a testament to China’s unwavering commitment to fostering global trade partnerships and promoting mutual economic growth.
