PowerChina Expands into Caribbean, Boosting Jamaica’s Energy Future

PowerChina is setting its sights on expanding its presence in the Caribbean, with a particular focus on Jamaica. He Yuxin, executive vice president of the international construction group, revealed that discussions with the Jamaican Government are \"far-advanced\" in establishing a significant footprint across the island and the wider region.

Speaking at a recent press briefing at PowerChina's Beijing headquarters, He expressed optimism about the future of new energy projects in Jamaica. These initiatives aim to streamline a carbon-neutral agenda and significantly enhance the country's energy security.

“Jamaica is the first Caribbean country where we established a representative office. In recent years, we have attached more importance to new energy developments in Jamaica and have gained meaningful progress so far,” He told Our Today.

Since 2009, PowerChina has been pursuing various projects in Jamaica, including the Harmony Cove Hotel and the Mahogany Vale Hydropower Project. These projects are becoming increasingly feasible under the Belt and Road Initiative, indicating a promising future for sustainable energy developments in the region.
