Jiangsu Province Champions Silver Economy to Support Aging Population

Jiangsu Province in East China is taking significant steps to address its aging population by promoting the silver economy. With nearly 21 million residents aged 60 and above by the end of 2023, Jiangsu recognizes the vast consumption potential of its elderly demographic.

The provincial government has unveiled an implementation plan aimed at developing a comprehensive industrial system for the silver economy by 2027. This initiative includes the establishment of over 10 specialized industrial parks and the addition of around 20 major enterprises that will utilize advanced technologies to create novel products and services tailored for the elderly.

As a manufacturing hub, Jiangsu is strategically positioned to lead in senior-oriented industrial development. The plan focuses on key areas such as the production of elderly care products, rehabilitation aids, smart healthcare services, and home modifications necessary for the elderly. Additionally, the province is encouraging the development of senior-friendly vehicles, wearable rehabilitation robots, and robots designed for emotional companionship and safety inspections.

Moreover, Jiangsu is integrating gene technology into its anti-aging efforts, highlighting the province's commitment to innovative solutions for an aging society. By fostering a robust silver economy, Jiangsu aims to enhance the quality of life for its elderly residents while driving economic growth.
