China’s Commerce Ministry Condemns U.S. Tariff Increases on Chinese Products

China is strongly opposing the United States' use of Section 301 to impose higher tariffs on certain Chinese goods, according to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce on Saturday.

The ministry emphasized that China has made multiple serious representations to the United States regarding this issue. It criticized the U.S. actions as typical examples of unilateralism and protectionism.

The ministry argued that these tariff hikes not only undermine the international trade order and the stability of global industrial and supply chains but also fail to address the U.S.'s own trade deficit and industrial competitiveness issues. Additionally, the measures have led to higher prices for U.S. imported goods.

In its latest report on the WTO compliance of the United States, released by China's Ministry of Commerce, concerns over the U.S.'s misuse of Section 301 were reiterated.

The ministry urged the U.S. to promptly correct its actions and stated that China will take resolute measures to safeguard the interests of Chinese enterprises.
