Chinese Premier Li Qiang has emphasized the importance of enhancing wellbeing and ensuring long-term stability in Xinjiang as the region strives for high-quality development.
During his inspection tour in the northwest region, Premier Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted Xinjiang's role in the Silk Road Economic Belt. He underscored the need to better connect inland regions with countries along the Silk Road, positioning Xinjiang as a pivotal bridgehead for opening up to the West.
Premier Li noted a significant increase in overseas visitors to Xinjiang following the implementation of the visa-free policy. He advocated for strengthening international exchanges across various sectors, including trade, education, medical care, culture, and tourism.
In his visit to local enterprises, Li encouraged the development of competitive industries leveraging Xinjiang's strengths in energy, farm produce processing, and equipment manufacturing. He called on local authorities to boost employment and incomes while fostering unity among all ethnic groups.
